About Us
This page contains much information all about The Cat House, our mission and our amazing staff aka 'Team Cat'

Quick info
Please note, our cats are not for rehoming - The Cat House is their permanent home. We do help local people to rehome their cats, so check our socials for info. If you have a cat that needs a new home please get in touch via our contact form.
We sell printed gift vouchers in our gift shop, 7 days a week, from 9am til close. You don't need a booking to visit the gift shop. We also sell them online via our booking system. Both versions come with a lovely photo of our cats.
Visit our booking pages to see what is on and when. You can use the calendar to choose a specific date or simply scroll down through the next few weeks to see what is on next.
We can only offer work experience to college students who require an animal based workplace for their 4 month placements. You will be required to attend for an interview before we can agree to go ahead. Please get in touch via the contact form.
Whilst we fully understand many young children are experienced with cats, due to licensing and insurance restrictions we can only admit ages 10+ as standard into the cat lounge. However we can admit ages 8 and 9 once they have attended one of our 1 hour Cat Awareness sessions, with a parent, upon completion of which they will earn themselves a certificate and a wallet card, and can then attend as standard.
Our Cat Awareness Sessions are in the school holidays - check our social media or our booking pages for info and dates.
What is The Cat House?
-
The Cat House is a heart-centred, creative venture with social aims. This simply means that at our core we exist in order to help others – in this case it is cats, and cat loving humans.
-
We do this by facilitating the rehoming of rescue cats by supporting their rescue centres via promotion and donations.
-
We also run our 'Home to Home Cat |Rescue Service'where y we help local people directly rehome their cats to new homes without the need for them to go into rescue centres and suffer the stress of living in a cage for an indeterminate length of time.
-
We care for cats in our Norwich venue, whilst offering drinks & cat comfort time during lounge sessions, along with cat themed artistic and wellness workshops & events, to cat loving people, in an inspiring, beautiful, community minded environment.
-
The majority of our cats are rescues. They aren't up for adoption - The Cat House is their permanent home. Occasionally one doesn't settle and we do offer them out to a new home, usually to people we already know: regular customers, staff or volunteers.

Our Mission
Our mission is simple: to connect people with cats!
Our Core Values
Our cats are our main priority
Everything we do is for the cats’ benefit, no question. Every decision we make, all our actions, protocols and procedures, and everything that goes on at The Cat House – all these are ultimately for the cats and their health, happiness, safety and enrichment.
Contentment is key
If our cats are content, then so are we, and so are you.
We aim for a welcoming, friendly, relaxed environment for all, full of smiles, laughter, comfort, connection and sharing.
We always do the right thing, and we do it well
This basically means:
1) We follow our own protocols developed through training, practice, experience and understanding,
2) We adhere to lawful practice and procedures. We are fully licensed, insured and trained as required.
3) We aspire to be good at everything we do and to ensure this translates into the best experiences for our cats and our human visitors.
A Little Bit About Sarah...
My name is Sarah. I am an artist and have lived in Norwich for 24 years - I am the dreamer of this dream, the creator of this creation. The Cat House is the realisation of two years hard work, and the culmination of a lifetimes obsession with art and cats. I am so excited to bring this passion project of mine to life, to share it with you all, and to help all the dear rescue cats of Norfolk.
If I can facilitate connections between cat lovers and cats, offering comfort to all, within a beautiful creative space, then I will know my mission is accomplished. I look forward to meeting you all!
